West Lodge Highland Pony Stud was originally founded in 1980 by Robin Stewart, and initially produced ponies under the Ardeadie and Coulnacraig prefixes before the West Lodge name was introduced in 1995.
Robin's love for the breed began long before 1980 when, as a 'young loon' Robin purchased a young mare out of a pen of six at Kittybrewster Mart in Aberdeen. Acma of Fingask, known as 'Dusty' went on to take third place at the Royal Highland in 1977 and firmly cemented the Highland breed in our hearts.
We strive to produce a true to type, quality pony which is suitable for all disciplines and of strong show quality. As well as a strong stamp of pony, our ponies are known for their superb temperament and character.
From a 50gn purchase at Kittybrewster Mart in 1979, Duart became a huge part of our Stud. A true showman, Duart went on to take over 60 Championships in the showring before being exported to Germany in 1990.
